hackney art studio
Drawing on lived experience of Long Covid and my extensive knowledge of art therapy, I set up Mindful Studio to provide a creative and supportive space for healing.
In summer 2024, Mindful Studio ran a weekly art studio for two months at the Shoreditch Trust, in collaboration with the Hackney WeLCoME Service, with wonderful feedback. Sessions were mindfully led by practitioners with knowledge or lived experience of chronic illness, keeping an ethos of radical rest at their core.
Weekly sessions included a short grounding or breathing exercise, followed by a directed art-making activity, with optional sharing at the end. Participants enjoyed the gentle pace, warm community and the chance to use a wide range of materials.
