I’m Shan, a London-based artist and workshop facilitator.

I run community art studios that nurture wellbeing and creativity through Mindful Studio, alongside my work in the NHS as an art psychotherapist leading a creative health service.

I’ve witnessed how art making can shift the way we relate to ourselves and others, and am fascinated by what emerges when we give ourselves the chance to play. At the heart of my work is a commitment to radical rest - creating gentle, creative spaces where we can slow down and listen to our bodies.

I’m drawn to sensory-rich materials such as found objects, photos, clay and collage. Having studied documentary photography, I’m inspired by visual narratives connected to personal identity, community and social justice.

Previously, I worked for over a decade in arts education leading innovative youth-arts programmes at Tate and The Photographers’ Gallery, and recently collaborated with the Royal Ballet & Opera on a creative health project exploring the impact of dance on mental health.

I’m currently working with the William Morris Gallery on their Flow State programme, a regular art studio for locals with experiences of mental health issues, aiming to build resilience, confidence and independence through artmaking.

My mission is to help others unlock their creativity, use art as a tool for recovery and demonstrate that art is for all, regardless of background.
